Question: My ISP is blocking SMTP sending over port 25.
Answer: Some internet service providers will block port 25 to force the user to use their default mail servers. Dec2g Hosting has made port 26 available for SMTP delivery. Simply update your mail client to use port 26 if you run across this problem.
Question: What email protocols do you support?
Answer: We currently support: IMAP, Secure IMAP, POP3, Secure POP3, SMTP, Secure SMTP. All protocols use default ports.
Question: How do I create a new email account?
Answer: Login to your control panel and click on the Mail icon. Then click on the Add/Remove mail accounts and within this area you will be able to manage all of your email accounts.
Question: What is the limit on email attachment sizes?
Answer: There are no limits set for attachment sizes.
Question: What mail server does your service use?
Answer: We currently use Exim, and for scripts written to utilize sendmail, all servers have a symlink called sendmail so that your scripts will work correctly.
Question: I am trying to view my email via webmail and cannot see my messages?
Answer: It is likely that you have retrieved them already with your POP3 mail client. If you wish to keep your messages on the server so that you may view them via webmail while traveling, we recommend setting your mail client to keep the messages on the server after the download is complete.

Question: My mail client won’t let me send mail?
Answer: Make sure that you have set your mail client to authenticate with your username and password when attempting to send messages.
Question: Additional mail accounts I create will not work?
Answer: Make sure you are using the full username in the proper format: username@yourdomain.com.
Question: I’ve just purchased an account and none of my email accounts work?
Answer: You must first update your DNS settings with your domain registrar and allow 24-72 hours for it to fully propagate before mail will work correctly.
Question: What sort of filtering and anti-spam solutions can I use?
Answer: Dec2g Hosting has made available a complete installation of SpamAssassin which you can configure within the mail section of your control panel.
Question: Can all of my addon domains have email access?
Answer: Yes, once you have created an addon domain you will see it as an option when creating new mail accounts.
Question: What is the path to the sendmail binary?
Answer: The path you will want to use is: /usr/sbin/sendmail
Question: Do you allow open relaying?
Answer: We strictly require authentication and do not allow open relaying.
Question: Where are all the provided features relating to forwarders and mail lists?
Answer: You will find all of these options in the mail section of your control panel.
Question: Bounced messages appear as though a virus is being sent from my email address?
Answer: Spammers have many techniques these days, including forged headers. It is quite likely that a spammer is merely using your email address as the from/reply-to when sending out his messages. There is nothing you can do to avoid this. |
